December 2016 Sisterlocks Re-tightening (1 Year, 1 Month)

Did I push this last retie for 2016 to the end or what? LOL!

 Side note: I have ALL my 2017 appointments booked. I really enjoy going to a salon that uses an online booking system- if the appointment time and my consultant of choice is available, and I want it- the appointment is mine.

 Here are some before and after pictures of my grid. Along with a video (click here for the video). I have been wanting to do a few intricate braided styles, but I prefer to do them on freshly re-tightened hair the clean grid make the braids "pop" even more. So stay tuned for some new styles!

  • Age of my Locs: 1 year, 1 month, 18 days (or 13 months, 18 days)
  • Weeks since last retie: 6 weeks, 1 day
  • Length of retie:  3 hours
  • Slippage/Bunching/Loc Repair: none, my consultant says that protective styling saves you from bunching
  • Length: no major changes
  • Fullness: no major changes
  • Buds: more buds
  • Sealed ends: none
  • Other noteworthy items
    • The locs I accidentally cut:  all 7, plus an additional 2 were re-established/established
    • Are any of my locs fully locked? No
    • Estimation on when I may be able to get color? 2018
    • Estimation of when I may need a grooming? 2018
    • On a scale of 1-10, how frizzy is my hair? 6
    • Was I given the green light to switch to the salon (aloe) shampoo? No

Preparing my Hair for Sisterlocks

Following is how I plan to prepare my hair for both my Sisterlocks consultation and establishment appointments.   15 days until establishment Remove last weave-based protective style Shampoo and Deep Condition Hair Style: two flat twists   12 days until establishment Shampoo with Protein Treatment Hair Style: 2 flat twists 10 days until establishment Shampoo ONLY Consultation and Test Loc Establishment Day Post-Test Loc Hair Style: 2 flat twists two strand twists 4 days until establishment Shampoo, Protein Treatment* and Deep Condition Hair Style: 2 flat twists   0 days until establishment Shampoo ONLY *I am still debating on this 2nd Protein Treatment
