The best laid plans of mice and men...

To quote an adaptation of "To a Mouse" by Robert Burns...."The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." However, this plan isn't awry it is AWESOME! Superman (he really is super, and not just for this, the Lord blessed me with a wonderful husband) gave me the green light to get my Sisterlocks earlier if I so desire.  And guess what?! I SO desire! I am waiting to hear back from my future consultant to solidify my establishment dates! Of course I excitedly texted T to share this wonderful turn of events. ( Read more about T here ). Did I  mention how great she is? Notice how she keeps me from being too caught up in my plan - which I had to bemoan LOL! I have already begun implementing a compressed version of my plan. I have selected 3 dates for establishment with coordinating consultation dates that have taken into account: work schedules, school schedules, my Mom's Wedding, holidays, consultant's availability, c

Meet my Bestie!

Superman claims that I only befriend other people with natural hair. So not true- I have one friend (I love her like a sister) who wears her hair relaxed...sorry B! I love you for more than being my one relaxed hair friend. Meet T... T on our most recent running date   How we met: I used to frequent one of her old jobs. We would chat while I was in line. Our running joke is that I wanted to ask her for her number, but in this day and age, I didn't want her to mistake my intentions. Eventually, one of Superman's best friends started to date her! <insert the little happy jig I performed when he relayed the news> The rest is history. T and her hubby were soon married and I had my bestie! Favorite Activities together: We have a bi-monthly running date. I am an exerciser who runs; she is a runner. I am training for a half-marathon vicariously through her. She even runs with her dog. How cool is that?! T on the Left What I like most about her: She is

Deciding to Loc...am I shallow? Oh well!

For some, the decision to loc their hair comes from frustrations of never being able to achieve length either relaxed or natural. That isn't the case for me. I have never had an issue growing healthy hair- I am thankful to say that I haven't had any issues with breakage or thinning edges. My hair type/texture/density isn't emotionally overwhelming for me. I am not at my whit's end as to what to do with my hair. I have been natural for over a decade. I chose to relax and texturise once each and I never even retouched either process. I wasn't a transitioner- my longest transition was the from the waiting chair to the barber's chair LOL! I am a DIY'er, so the costs/expense of keeping up my hair has never been a huge budget item. Why am I going to wear locs (Sisterlocks (TM) specifically)? I just want to. I don't have a deep spiritual reason. If I had to just say "something" it would be the following: I have worn yarn braids o
